Ceramic Printing Research
Beginning in 2015, Tom has designed and built numerous custom clay printers, allowing precise control over every aspect of the printing process, and tailored to my specific research aims. Unlike many commercially available options, these machines allow precise control every aspect of the printing process, from layer height to material flow via software, firmware, and hardware manipulation. This meticulous approach, whose damp clay output is reminiscent of traditional coil building techniques in miniature, allows Tom to achieve a level of detail and precision that explores the boundaries of this niche technique in a personal way. Tom's printing research has been featured in several magazine articles, conferences, and books.
